Accueil » Dosing pyrotechnic powders : precision and safety
- May 29, 2020
When working with pyrotechnic powders, serious precautions must be taken. MCPI, building on its experience in precision dosing, proposes solutions that can fulfil these safety requirements.
What are pyrotechnic powders used for?
MCPI dosing technologies adapt to the requirements of customers wanting to dose pyrotechnic powders. These solutions are used for various applications:
- car safety systems, such as air bags;
- ammunition or flares for the defence sector;
- propulsion systems for the aerospace industry.
Strict powder dosing
Like all the precision equipment developed by MCPI, very high precision micro-dosers can detect a 0.1mg mass variation thanks to their digital weighing scale. This guarantees a quality result for each dose, in compliance with the original recipe.
Technology adapted for totally safe transfer
Pyrotechnic powders are highly dangerous and must be handled with extreme caution. MCPI designs micro-dosers that respect the ingredients and their sensitivity: the powder is never compressed or crushed.
Specific precautions for pyrotechnic powder
Furthermore, every element of the micro-doser is earthed and overall conductivity is guaranteed. Some components have a specific surface treatment to prevent any accumulation of electric charge. Safety also depends upon the multiple sensors inside the dosing system. Temperature sensors for the surfaces in contact with the powder, part presence sensors, and inspection of the powder quantities in the machine; all these elements help to ensure maximal control. In the event of an anomaly, a safety procedure is triggered to empty the machine and certified personnel are called to intervene.
